Wilco on Jay Leno Show

wilco-leno-11-2004

Wilco performed "I'm A Wheel" from "A Ghost is Born" on the Jay Leno Show on Monday night. An interesting selection that surprised some. "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9" doesn't exactly qualify as Tweedy's finest lyrical effort, but "I invented a sister, Populated with knives" has a certain macabre cleverness.

Much as the "Hummingbird" performance on David Letterman in June that fans felt did not fully display the live display of Wilco, this performance seemed to leave folks on Via Chicago somewhat underwhelmed. But really folks. Can anyone expect a 3 minute TV performance to ever come close to matching a Wilco concert?

Definitely not as fine a TV showcase as "Theologians" on Conan. But hey. We got Pat Sansone doing a few Pete Townshend-style windmills. Now that was cool.
